The thematic constant of this exhibition refers to the formal cause of Aristotele – The focus is on the “appearance” of things. Structures, patterns and shapes are taken out of their context and combined to form a new statement.
Das Projekt beinhaltet zwei Interventionen, eines im öffentlichen und eines im digitalen Raum. In den Straßen St. Petersburgs wurden insgesamt 17 aus Keramik gemachte “Flachplastiken” aufgestellt. Die Aufstellorte wurden auf Instagram und auf einer Karte veröffentlicht. Gleichzeitig wurde ein Video auf den bekanntesten pornografischen Plattformen im Internet online gestellt. Der Titel des Videos ist “The great masturbatress”. Es ist ein künstlerischer Angriff und eine feministische Antwort auf die toxisch maskuline Welt der Massenpornographie.

The video is a pornographic satire — was uploaded to the largest porn-sites under the title „The great masturbatress“. This is an attack and a feminist answer of the artist to the toxic masculinity of mass pornography.

Im digitalen Raum kann jede*r ohne seinen privaten Raum zu verlassen, zeitunabhängig an den öffentlichen Diskursen teilnehmen. Die Agora, welche Hannah Arendt als den Platz des politische Austauschs
und als die Voraussetzung für die Demokratie markierte, hat sich in den virtuellen Raum verlagert. Dort existiert kein Öffentliches und kein Privates mehr. Die Nachrichten werden wie von unsichtbaren Männchen in sekundenschnelle hin und her getragen.

The exhibition includes a presentation of the works that were created during the stay in the Art Residancy in St. Petersburg in summer 2019. The documentations of the artistic intervention in digital and public space with the title “Bussi Riot Project” and the shortfilms “The gaze trough the vulva” and “The great Masturbatress” were shown. The title of the exhibition 18+ is an allusion to the key trait in the relationships between the Russians and the government — the permanent attempt to slip away from the firing line. Thus, after the 18+ stamp, many educational books on homosexuality can be officially sold in book stores without making the authors fear special attention or persecution. It is an elegant way to disobey that surprisingly developed after many years of oppression. It can be perceived as an abstract form of protest. This exhibition is dedicated to different opportunities of protest in postsowjet space.
